A couple of years ago I realised that kayaking had started to take me to some incredible, beautiful and remote places.  I was visiting places, seeing things and meeting people that I wanted to tell people about, to help me do that, I bought myself a reasonable compact digital camera and started taking photos to record my trips and adventures.  It seemed to be pretty much pot luck as to the quality of the photos and gradually I started to learn what all the buttons did and take pictures on settings other than “Auto”.  Eventually, as I gained understanding, I came to appreciate and enjoy photography itself.  This year I bought myself a digital SLR and some photography books and decided that I was going to learn to get a bit better at this.

I’m in the process of putting together a gallery to host some of my favorite photos, it’s very much a work in progress at present and has a lot of shots in there that are simply there to ‘pad it out’ for the moment. However, as time allows, hopefully it will grow to become somewhere that I can show some of my better efforts with a camera. Click on the image below to be taken to the gallery.

Any comments are welcome and appreciated, especially from photographers with tips on how to get better pictures.

Cheers

You’re going to have to give me some tips on becoming the next David Bailey! Nick bought me a fancy digital SLR for my birthday (probably with the hope of me taking some good rally shots) and I love it, but probably don’t know half of what it does! See you soon.
